Find out more about the AlpExperience team!
AlpExperience started as a chalet company in the French ski resort of Les Gets, providing catered holidays to guests during the winter and summer seasons. After 3 summers and 4 winters, we decided it was time to make the big move back to the UK, but whilst still keeping AlpExperience alive for our clients and followers; so began the AlpExperience blog.
So who are we? Time to meet the team...
I first fell in love with the fluffy white stuff on a school ski trip aged 15. Since then I was lucky enough to go on regular winter holidays with friends for many years. It was always my intention to do a winter season but commitments always seemed to get in the way. That was until 2013 when I was made redundant and decided to make my dream a reality. I soon found a job as a chalet host, being a keen cook with a fair amount of hospitality experience, and as they say, the rest is history.
I lived and worked in Les Gets for 4 years in total, honing my skills in the kitchen and on the mountain. Now, my main passions are cooking tasty food for our guests and hunting out fresh powder, and keeping our followers up to date on all things AlpExperience.
I was lucky enough to go on family skiing trips from an early age, I'd been on a winter holiday long before a summer holiday. I may not have been the best skier back then, but I loved it! In 2012 the opportunity arose to do a ski season and I jumped at the chance. I started out with a big tour operator as a Resort Representative in Les Gets. I fell in love with it all, right from the very start; the job, the place, the lifestyle. I'd been in resort for about three weeks when I knew I wanted to stay. That first season led to eight more winters in Les Gets, and hopefully more to come.
Between us, we have over 13 years’ experience of tourism in Les Gets; from where to stay, to where to eat, to finding undiscovered gems on the mountain, and what to do when not skiing.
After being rescued from Reunion by John and Libby nearly 3 years ago I have loved my new life in the French Alps and now the UK. I love the snow, and love running, especially chasing snowboarders and mountain bikers. Check out my own Instagram @pechedog
